Okay...

so wow....let's get serious here...

since about September, God has been stirring and stirring and stirring in my heart.... Africa and orphans in Africa and people in Africa. Now, Africa is not really anything I have ever given a thought to... Africa is where Brad and Angelina adopt from and Madonna and Bono does charity work there also, that is the extent of my knowledge. You know what.... I don't know the first thing about the country of Africa... seriously... no kidding.... but I do know that a friend from long ago (11 years or so, who I really don't even talk to anymore), adopted a baby from Ethiopia... I randomly got an email that had been forwarded and forwarded and forwarded, and it got to me and it was HER AND HER FAMILY and it was the day they picked up their precious baby from Ethiopia and it was a tear jerker and precious... so I start following all these blogs off her blog... all these adoption blogs... and I even make blog friends through this... and I follow their stories... and I dream about adopting... even though I don't really think that our family is called to do this.... I better watch what I say here as far as that because I know God has a sense of humor.... but I am finding ways to help in Africa... and maybe that is what God is calling me to do.... I don't know.... last week, my business donated to Children's Hopechest.... this week, Charity:Water has been heavy on my heart, which builds water wells in Africa - did you know that so many people ( I don't even know the amount) don't have clean drinking water... and people die because of it...tonight, I read a minister at my church's blog (who by the way totally rocks, and my 11 year old thinks he is totally the bomb and downloads his sermons on his ipod and listens to them over and over) - and he blogs about - what else but providing water in Africa... a coincidence??? probably not... so this is what he, the minister at my church who totally rocks, is challenging... well he's not challenging, but an organization is.... to donate the money that you would usually spend on buying whatever drinks you drink and donate it to the organization to help provide clean drinking water to those in need in Africa.... y'all - SERIOUSLY.... YOU KNOW HOW I LOVE MY DIET COKE.... HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I BLOGGED ABOUT IT????? 40 days starting March 1st.... uggghhh.... this might be the hardest thing I have ever done.... of course I just was looking for the buy a t-shirt and donate button on the blog... but I'm not sure that's what God wants me to do... and there wasn't a buy a t-shirt and donate button...unfortunately for me.

Heather, that's so cool that you are thinking about doing this too. I saw your husband post on my blog, and came here and read this and other posts. It looks like you are pretty fired up about social justice issues, and your blog blessed me. I will be checking it out more often. Thanks,

I don't think people can possibly understand what kind of sacrifice this is for you. Words can't express it...

ps.
if you follow through, i'll buy you a Route 44 Sonic Diet Coke and leave it on your doorstep, ring the doorbell, and drive away :) that doesn't count does it?

Way to go! That is awesome! I have heard about the water issue and it's terrible. Breaks my heart.
I was hoping to see you at Sam's party last weekend!

I don't know if I could do this....I might be as addicted as you are to the DC.

You will be in my prayers.
