So, I've been dying to tell this story! However, I couldn't tell it until after Christmas for obvious reasons.
So, remember that letter that I wrote to the CEO of Barnes and Noble about Brooks' Christmas present the Nook? You can view the letter here. And here is how I wrapped it up and sent one package to the CEO on Fifth Avenue and one to Customer Service headquarters in New Jersey.

Well, about a week before Christmas I got an email from Barnes and Noble saying that my order had been cancelled. Well I freaked out!!! I called them immediately to see what the deal was... The customer service rep said, "well, it says the order was cancelled by customer request".... I said, "NO NO NO!! I DID NOT CANCEL THIS ORDER" She then put me on hold and while I was on hold, in the middle of picking up kids from school, I dropped my phone and got disconnected! So later that night, I sent customer service an email, once again freaking out about my order being cancelled. You see, if I would have had to reorder the Nook, the shipping date at this point was in February. In my email to them, I told them this was some kind of bad joke and please do not cancel this order! I told them that I sent a package with candy and a letter requesting a shipping date before Christmas. I asked them to please restore my order and put in back on my original shipping date which was January 11th. Anyway, well, it took several days for me to hear back from customer service via email.

In the meantime, about 2-3 days after I receive the email saying that my order has been cancelled, a FedEx truck pulls up in front of my house. I can't imagine what he might be delivering as I don't recall ordering anything. Of course, the first thing I look at on the package is the return address....
At this point, I completely start hyperventilating and totally freaking out. I run to my closet shutting 3 doors behind me because all 3 of my kids are at home. I rip open the package - by the way - I am shaking like crazy. And I open to find a nice brand new nook enclosed all package up so nicely with a hand written note straight from that CEO!!!
I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!! I mean really, I only asked for a shipping date before Christmas, not a free Nook! Wow!
So, I wrapped that Nook differently from the rest of our presents. I had to tell Brooks the story because it was just too good not to! Here's the Nook wrapped and the letters that I wrote and the letter from Mr. Riggio

Brooks reading the letter that I wrote to the CEO

He was beyond thrilled! He's already read one book on it and started another.
So that is the story about how the CEO of Barnes and Noble sent us a free Nook! Is that not the best story EVER? We are still shaking our heads in disbelief! So thank you Mr. Riggio! Since I am sure you are continually reading my blog. lol! We are customers for life. And everyone that reads this blog should support Barnes and Noble!
Brooks and I will both be writing Mr. Riggio thank you notes that he will receive in a box with candy once again!

As my mom preaches, "it's all about the presentation!" I think besides you being a GREAT mom, your little touches of ribbon and peppermints sure won him over!! This is a wonderful story and a great Christmas memory!! It gave me goose bumps:)
Talk about customer service!!!Really though, who could turn a letter like that down?? Mr. Riggo, you have made my grandson a very happy boy! Thanks for making this a Christmas that our family will never forget! By the way, the letter goes to show that my daughter-is-law is not a loser mom but a very loving and resourceful one!
