We spent the better part of last night
working on updating all adoption papers.
All that paperwork that we had to do the first time around,
well it's all expiring and we have to do it over again.
It is all very depressing.
and money consuming.
Especially knowing that it will probably all expire again.
blah.
I told Ellison that Derek and I were having a date last night.
An "adoption paperwork date".
Ellison: "make sure you make lots and lots and lots of copies of everything you do!"
Me: why do we need to do that?
Ellison: because remember last time they lost ALL of our papers?
Me: oh yeah! I forgot about that!
The "they" being... USCIS!!! totally forgot about that!!!! Yes, that is why we were neck and neck with people that already have their referrals or have already brought their kids home!!!! It is the most FRUSTRATING thing EVER!!!! IT LITERALLY MAKES ME CRAZY MAD!
They lost our paperwork and it took us 13 weeks to get our 171H.
It is only going to make like a YEAR difference in when we will bring Little Man home.
No big deal at all! ughhh!
Nonetheless, this has been a hard and disheartening week/month.
We began this journey 2 years ago this week.
And it is still going to be a very long time before we bring him home or know who he is.
hurts my heart.
a lot.
There have been a lot of tears this week.
I just want to lay down on the floor and throw a 2 year old fit, saying, "IT'S NOT FAIR!!!"
And there have been dear friends that have brought "figs" to my house. (i.e. large diet coke and chips and queso on a particularly hard day. Amen!)
And there have been dear friends that have brought "figs" to my house. (i.e. large diet coke and chips and queso on a particularly hard day. Amen!)
But I know better, He's got this!
The Lord has our perfect Little Man, a perfect little Cheatham.
Whoa, and He knows.... we need the perfect Little Cheatham to go in this crazy family!
Thank you Lord for carrying us through the hard times...

LOVE you Heather!
I read this today... "The more we are able to see just how many blessings we have been given- given freely and undeserved- the more we will be able to see that God is out for our good. And when that happens, our trust level increases...... The life we are living is at times scary but is also a great deal of fun. The key is to remember who is riding with us. There is not a single situation you and I will face that we must face alone. God is with us. God is out for our good. Even in the most painful of circumstances God is able to redeem it, for "we know that all things work together for good" (Rom. 8:29) for those who trust in him."
Oh Heather I think about you all the time... seriously I do!!! I think I feel this bond because you are asking for a toddler boy and my heart aches for toddler boys, LOVE them!!!
Please know that I am praying for the sweet son that God is preparing and that I am praying for your heart, it is SO.HARD.TO.WAIT!!!! Especially when you never thought in your wildest dreams you would still be in this place. UGGHHHHHH!!
Hugs!!

I'm so sad that they lost your paperwork. I would also be a mess if we were in your shoes. I'm praying that things speed up and you don't have to wait long.
I can't wait until the day you get "THE CALL".. These days will be so hard to remember! Praying a referral is coming very soon.. What a blessed family he is coming too.. (slightly crazy in a good way)..
Blessings,
Laura
Great attitude friend. Know the wait is hard. Can't wait to rejoice with you when all is revealed as to His perfect timing and the perfect little man becomes a Cheatham.
I know the wait is hard. Hope you get the referral call really soon!
Hi! I came across your blog somehow recently. Fellow adopting mama here...I pray for a quick referral call! I can't imagine how frustrating that must be with them losing your paperwork. You may just chalk it up to God's timing....your little on He has made for you may not have been ready to come home yet.... It's the only way I get through the delays by thinking that way. Prayers are up for you!

I know how difficult waiting is :O(. I will be praying for your time to come SOON!
Ugh. I had not checked in on your blog in a long time...I was hoping to see a pic of an adorable face....instead the all too familiar redoing of paperwork song. Keep your chin up! It all happens in the right time..And it will be SO WORTH IT!!!!.(don't I sound convincing?? Yeah....well, after having waited 5 years to adopt from China I know all too well the things I have been told, frustration of redoing paperwork, and that I check my fingerprints at times to see if maybe they came off when wehave done fingerprinting over and over....Hope I convinced you :) Stay positive!!
I would have liked to send you a private email, but I could not figure out how to do so from a blog, so this comment is the direct result of the combination of the pulling of my heartstrings and my technological deficiencies.
I hope you don't mind. YWAM Adoptions gave me the link to your blog. You see, your family is literally an answer to our prayers, as we have been praying for your little man to find a loving family and forever home for some time.
I can't tell you how much joy a glimpse into your family brings. Our hearts have been with this little guy for some time now. He has become an extension of our family, a sweet face we see daily, and pray for frequently. God is so good! Now we can add the rest of his family (yours) to our prayers.
Blessings of peace and joy. I know that waiting is difficult. But, God's timing is always right.
