Ice Storm 2009

So the last couple of days we had "The Big Texas Ice Storm of 2009". I would just love to be able to post some wonderful pics of the fun day that we had while the kids got to miss school. And just show everyone exactly what Texas weather is like... one day swimming in the hot tub and eating on the patio (in my previous post) and a few days later, an ice storm that closes down the schools. Well, I have no pictures because Big Momma (as my kids affectionately refer to me as - I know- very nice term of endearment!) had to go fly. You see this "oh so glamourous" job that I have called me at 11:15pm on Tuesday night as it is sleeting and freezing rain to say that I needed to be at the airport the next morning at 7:15 to fly. I started laughing at the guy, but unfortunately, that didn't get me out of the assignment. So, my sweet hubby drove me to the airport at about 5:45am to make sure I made it on time. He didn't want me driving because my skills of driving on ice are non-existent and I'm sure that he was thinking that he would rather brave the roads than have to raise 3 kids by himself!! just kidding! Anyway- I wasn't home on the day the kids got to miss school and therefore I have no pictures to show for it. :( But thanks to their NeNe - they did get to go eat at Wing Stop which they love for some odd reason and go see a movie. So thank you NeNe for helping to make their day really fun!

ok, so I prefer your last post at 80 degrees way over this post during an ice storm! We didn't get much snow or ice or fun around here...we did get out of school yesterday...but only because snow was predicted...too funny!! thanks for your sweet comment, kristi

It's so funny now living here in Colorado after Texas. A few days ago, I drove Carter to school with a -6 degree temp reading on the car and 6 inches of snow on the ground after 2 days of winter weather. Didn't ever occur to me that school might be closed.

Been here through almost 3 school years and a record amount of snowfall in 2006 and have only seen one "snow day!"

Love the new look! Your kids would get along great with my husband. His favorite place in the world is Wingstop!!!

I don't know how you flight attendants do it...

You know how I love my days with the grandkids! I have more fun than the kids. Brooks actually arranged everything. He ordered the food, found the movie times and etc. All I had to do was drive and he even put the car in gear for me. I'm sure Brooks would love for me to point out that he beat me in pool also.

I guess we need to try Wingstop. My mom told me about how Brooks arranged everything and even bought her a senior citizen's movie ticket. I belly laughed when I heard that!...and so did Matt :)
