Halloween 2009

It was a crazy day as I knew it would be. We jumped from one activity to another all day long. We started our Halloween festivities at The Cheathams to take pictures, eat, and trick-or-treat with the cousins, as we do every year.

Now, I need to do some explaining about my kids costumes so that you all don't think I am a complete and total loser. First off, Brooks could have cared less what he was wearing. He said he was just gonna be a baseball player and then he changed his mind to be a tennis player. (How convenient for me since we have both of those costumes considering he plays both of those sports!) In the end, it was just easier for him to be a baseball player since he came straight from his baseball game! Let the record show that I offered to take him to the costume store and he turned me down.

And next we have Halle Caroline....she was the only one that cared this year, so we went all out since I was only buying one costume this year! Fabulous costume! She got comments everywhere she went. She was in it to win every contest she could!

And then there was little Ella... my word, she was surely not gonna win any awards with her costume. I took her to the costume store multiple times, Target multiple times.... And she just never found anything that tickled her fancy. The she showed a little interest in being a cheerleader, and I heard about a great cheerleader uniform at Kroger of all places. So we ran over there, but of course she didn't like that either. Not to mention that we have a hundred different great costumes from years past and dress up stuff that she could have worn. So about 5:00 pm on Halloween, I texted our beloved high school babysitter pleading for her to help me with Ellison. I sent her over and Kaila made her a hippie girl. I was just thankful that she was dressed.

Halle Caroline is standing on a step that is why she is so tall

All the cousins

Next stop was a party that we were invited to. I found out at 10 am that adults were required to wear a costume also. And people....there were big prizes at stake....like Cowboys club level tickets, Nascar tickets, a spa package for the woman, etc.... So I promptly got on the horn and tried to round up some costumes. A good friend came to my rescue with a few to choose from. I really wanted to be Bob Marley, but she talked me into being ......

Snow White!

because she said we would never win if we didn't dress something as a couple. So we were Snow White and Prince Charming. I thought Derek in the tights would win it for us for sure. He even had the brisket and smoker loaded up and ready for his tailgate party at the Cowboys Stadium for the next day.

I cannot believe I'm gonna post this picture of me. I tried to spray my hair black, but then I started freaking out because I thought that the black might do something to my highlighted hair. So then my hair was just some weird funky color and it DID NOT look good...and neither did I. Derek on the other hand, now that's hot! haha! Those tights are just wrong.

Shout out to my friend Melissa on the blog, who is a faithful reader! Batgirl and Hippie Chic, my friend Dawn. We were trick-or-treating with the kiddos

This house was just really cool and decorated so awesome that I had to take a picture.

Halle Caroline did win for her costume at that party and she was so excited. I am sorry to report that Derek and I did not win. :( There was a "Tina Turner" and I guess her husband that got up and did some amazing lip syncing and dancing and it was hysterical and they won. After that, we came back to our neighborhood for that party. And I got to talking and didn't take any pics! loser!

Love all the costumes. How fun that the grown ups dressed up too! I haven't done that in forever.

I think I would of had to of beg and pleaded to get Adam to wear tights. Derek looks fabulous. Ha!

To think I had the same kind of grief with Derek and his clothes as you do with Ella ! He would only wear shirts with a number or screen print. I can't believe you got him to wear tights!! He looks almost as cute as he did in the Santa costume in Kindergarten!!!
