A little of this and that...

A little catch up for this last week....

We had our first official meeting at church this week for a ministry that we have been trying for almost a year to get started at our church..... Lifesong!!!! (ever heard of it!?!)  haha!  We are so excited to be able to help other adoptive families with the costs of adopting through grants and loans!!! Along with the Lifesong ministry, we will also have an orphan care ministry (all one in the same ministry)!  SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!  This ministry will also sponsor Orphan Sunday and other events to bring awareness to the orphan crisis.  Very proud of Derek and our friends, the Polks, for being instrumental in getting this on the table for Servant Sunday at our church!

So at that meeting.... I got to meet up with these two cuties!  When we started this process of adopting, we knew no one in our neck of the woods that was doing this crazy thing (adopting from Ethiopia).  But God is so much fun, that he put these two ladies in my life, to be able to walk this journey with.  And they go to church with us!!!! So now, Little Man will have little Ethiopian friends to play with!

Me (Gladney), Summer (Gladney), Julia (AWAA)

Then on Friday night, we celebrated Brooks' upcoming 14th birthday... a slumber party full of every sport played that you can imagine.  Brooks would not take "NO" for an answer for a slumber party.  I think he had a great time.  I'm just glad it's over! ;)  Just kidding.... they were all really good.  Brooks chooses great friends.

He even let his sisters join in on some of the fun!

And the sweetest thing.... he asked his guests to bring cloth diapers to be donated to orphanages in Ethiopia instead of receiving gifts for himself.  We are so proud of your heart of gold Brooksie! So here he is with all the cloth diapers before we box them up to ship.  Kristi - if you happen to read this.... I'm planning on sending them to you! Hope that's okay!

That's all for tonight! More tomorrow on the birthday boy!

So blessed to be walking this road with you! And I love seeing your kids hearts - what a sweet reflection of you and Derek and your love for the Father! Its hard to imagine how much their lives are changing because of your decision to say yes to the Lord in adopting Little Man. And how the Kingdom will be advanced through them and your faithfulness! So glad we FINALLY got to meet :)

Heather,
Looks like a fun birthday!
I wanted to talk to you about how you set that all up with your church. We are wanting to approach the pastor about doing the same thing. Just not sure how. My email is funk50@charter.net
Thanks!
Jill
