For some reason, the hubs has been bothered by the fact that I haven't blogged in like 2 weeks. I think that he thinks that I am some famous blogger and the masses are waiting to hear from me! ha! No, probably just my mom! lol!
Things have been crazy around the Cheatham casa and we have just really tried to enjoy what's going on here to avoid what's not going on with the adoption. We received 2 different emails yesterday from our agency.... and they were hard things to hear.... basically in a nut shell... it looks like it is going to be a long while before we have Little Man in our arms. When we started this process in January of 2010, we thought we would have him about a year later. That's how things were running at the time. Things have slowed down tremendously and in my opinion, things are only going to get worse. It's not good. So of course our emotions are all over the map... sad, scared, frustrated, maybe a little mad. As I was explaining some of this to Halle Caroline yesterday afternoon when the emails were rolling in.... she said, "see.... if you just would have listened to us and adopted like a year earlier... like we told you guys to, we wouldn't be in this mess." Out of the mouths of babes. She's so right though.
So Derek and I had a little patio talk last night... just to discuss our feelings about the whole thing. One thing that we had both come to a conclusion separately was that... we can't be feeling like our life is on hold anymore. We just gotta live life and we will get Little Man when God's timing is perfect. So all those mission trips that we want to go on so badly to Ghana and Rwanda.... well, we might just go ahead and do those things and not wait until after the adoption, like we had planned. It was so hard for us to see past the 2 trips to Ethiopia thing... that we couldn't see the forest from the trees. But - we aren't putting life on hold anymore.
Good gracious --- I didn't know we were gonna be Sarah and Abraham's age before we got Little Man! uggghh!
So, moving on.... we have kept ourselves really busy with craziness!!! Ellison had her first of her last 3 level 5 gymnastics meets.... She did so good! In her division, she got 2nd on vault, 3rd on beam, and 4th all around. Here is a pic of her on the medal stand.
Ella and her bff, CJ
And then, this past weekend.... we had the craziness of NCA Nationals... ummmm, apparently, this is a HUGE deal. Well, now I know. Lots of extra practices and nerves and anxiety. Enough said. It consumed our entire weekend, or month.
On Friday night, there was a showoff of all the teams at the gym....
The whole gym circled up for one last pep talk and prayer
bff Chandler and Halle Caroline
Day 2 of competition
that crazy ridiculous makeup
supportive sisters
Awards- I was all poised and ready to go with my camera... because I just knew that our girls had won. I was mistaken... we lost by half a point. I should not say they "lost"----- THEY GOT 2ND IN THE NATION!!!! Our girls were amazing though... They did the best ever when they performed their routine 2 days in a row! So proud. And they got the sportsmanship award. Awesome! Says a lot about their gym, the coaches, and their team.
And let's not leave Brooks out.... in the middle of all these gymnastics meets and cheer competitions.... Brooks also has had tennis tournaments... but unfortunately, I have no pictures. :(
I am so thankful that we have these crazy kids to keep us crazy busy during this long wait of adoption. God is good and He is in control... He's got this wait, he's got it!
Maybe one of these days, I'll have a good news post about the adoption. maybe, one day!

I was gonna message you today on FB.....I am SO with you on relating to this post! My hubs and I also had a long heart-to-heart last night about all of these delays and are just pretty well spent emotionally. Just really sad that this is all looking way different than we expected. Having adopted from Guat. previously and seeing the shut-down occur there, I am a little overly negative right now about the future of things....trying to hold to the fact that God is in the details! Hang in there friend! At least we're all in this together!
Oh I feel your pain!! The same thing happened to us, we were "supposed" to have a quick referral and we waited 10 months for one. We also had to decided to enjoy the kids that God had blessed us with at home and release all the timing to Him, SO HARD!!!
I am praying for you all, that peace that is beyond explanation will come!!
Shoot me an email if you ever need to vent... I totally get it!! :)
I had no idea you had a gymnast, too! How cool :O). I think it looks like just living your everyday life will keep you pretty busy.. and when he does come home, it will be the perfect time!
From "just your mom", yes I have been waiting to hear from yall, but I know that the kids have had major events this weekend. They are all so talented.Congrats to Ellison and Halle Caroline's placements in their sports. I am sure that Brooks also performed his best! Sound like the three kids are moving forward with their lives with ease, and suggest that you & Derek do also. It will happen when HE wants it to happen.
Love & Miss you all!
I'm right there with you. A year ago we were told average wait time for the age we want is 5 months. I figured we'd be done by now. We kept putting off planning our yearly Florida trip. But, life goes on like you said. When God is ready, we'll be here waiting. Praying is all we can do!
Love catching up. Know you are not alone. Many praying right along side you!
So glad for the updates. You have indeed been missed!
So sorry about the delays. Know that you and your little man are being covered in prayer from around the globe!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim
Well I am always excited to read updates on your adorable family. Will keep you in my prayers during this time of uncertainty and admire your decision to live life to the fullest while waiting for God to reveal His plan.
Praying that we will all have good news to post about on the adoption front very soon!!! :)
Luv! The cheerleading posts remind me so much of loving when I was involved in it.
Oh Heather I love that y'all are listening to the Lord and yes, you have 3 precious kiddos right now that are doing some pretty awesome stuff! Can't wait to see little man but also love seeing what is going on with the others! Love you!
