It seems to me that I have probably been unusually quiet about our adoption and Little Man. So here's just a little update.... I have to admit this summer has been a nice change of pace and it seems that my mind doesn't revolve quite so much about when we are gonna get that call.
Last night we were together as a family and out of the blue, Ellison said, "I am so sick of telling everybody we are just waiting! When are we going to get Little Man??!!!
So here's kinda the scoop from my viewpoint.... I read what I can and listen to what I can to get as much information that I possibly can. But basically.... It's just in God's hands and I know that and truly find so much comfort in the fact that God is preparing us and our Little Man for each other. He has the perfect little boy for us and our family. So it may happen for others faster, and that's okay. In fact it is happening for others faster and people that started the process after us, are traveling over to get their precious little ones. It is really okay. My heart is okay with it all. We have had crazy things going on in our lives, and possibly God is getting a few kinks worked out before Little Man gets here. I'm good with that.
Basically, things in Ethiopia have slowed down tremendously since we started our adoption process. There are different reasons behind this slowdown. One being that they are requiring extra paperwork and extra steps before a child can be adopted, which takes extra time. Also, one organization that issues opinions on each adoption had a complete staff change which slowed things down. In addition this same organization ( I don't know if I should call it an organization... but I've had the fear put in me to not say too much on the www and that people are watching and reading.... I'm sure not my blog, but whatever) has said that instead of processing like the 50 cases a day that they processed previously, well, now they are gonna process like 5 a day!
In addition, the agency we are with.... well lets just say that, there was a time that things moved faster, due to circumstances out of their control. Right now, things are just moving very slow. So the Ethiopian government, combined with our agency equals things not moving at a rapid pace. at all.
I layed in bed this morning counting the months that we have been on the waitlist. 9. Nine months we have been on the waitlist. When we started this process, the average wait time for a referral was 8 months. So, we are passed that, and the wait times have increased and really.... nobody knows what the norm is at this point (it seems to me). There are times that we get information and think this could take years, literally. And then the next week, we will get information that is more hopeful. So we have sorta learned to take all information with a grain of salt... and just rest in the fact that it's all in God's hands. Thank goodness!
In the meantime, my friend Julia sent me this precious video to remind me what we are waiting for during this crazy stupid wait. She said these kids reminded her of mine. (and one even has a Kanakuk shirt on! holla!) I love me some adoption videos! This sweet little boy is from Rwanda. Brittany - see what you can find out over there! ;)

Oh Heather... I know how you feel. Somedays were better than others. Hold on, because God is doing a mighty work!! (even if it doesn't feel like it some days)
We were on the wait list 3 times longer than they thought but God was just waiting for Bereket to come into care so that he could join OUR family!!
I cannot wait to hear who He has picked for your family!!! Waiting makes that call even sweeter!!!!
Thank you for sharing your update. Stay strong!
