The weekend started off on Friday with baking a red, white, and blue cake. Actually, it was gonna just be a red and blue cake with white icing. But somewhere along the way we decided to add the white in there too. And we also ended up adding a 3rd cake mix too. Which made 6 layers and took ALL day long to make. Seriously. This started out as a little afternoon baking session. I think we finished icing it at about 10:00! ha! Y'all, I really like to think of myself as Bakerella.... I really try to play the part.... I try hard.... but it really just doesn't work out for me. Nonetheless, I will not give up. One of these days, I will post beautiful rainbow cakes and beautifully iced cupcakes! One day.
And y'all - we get fancy with our egg cracking around here. So don't try and compete!
And ella's little friend, miss g came over and got involved too! See - they are in their pj's all ready for bed and still waiting on cake!
Ta-Daa
Everyone enjoying cake!
And I realize that I just gave you a tour of my very messy kitchen! nice.
So maybe the red, white, and blue cake should have been a post all on it's own, but wait there's more to our weekend than cake!
So on Saturday, we decided to head to the lake. The kids were super excited since it was our first trip of the summer there. We got there and jumped right in the boat and we spent the afternoon and evening wakeboarding and skiing. All three kids did great! Some of our crew had grown, so the wakeboard was a little harder this year than it was last year.
Here's some pics of our time....
Little Ella... little tiny thing is a machine on this thing! Girl has skilz and she just got better over the 3 days. She's just like her dad... awesome at anything she tries.
Halle Caroline said just before she jumped in, "I sure hope I get up with this awesome bun in my hair, because if I don't... I'm just gonna look like a dork with a bun!" Haha! She's so funny! She did get up and did amazing!
waving her little heart out to Nene and Grandad who were on the dock.
Oh and I am ashamed to say that it was not until just right now that I realized that I have no pics of Brooks showing off his skilz. I have lots of video of him though!
And being on the boat all day and working so hard... sure makes you tired.
even dogs.
Nene and her grandkids!
Cousin time with baby Will
Whew! Momma's looking really rough after an entire day on the lake and 110 degree heat... but baby Will sure is cute!
Nighttime boat ride... looking for fireworks
Watch out people! Brooks is learning how to drive the boat!
I could take some time to kinda edit these photos... but that takes too much time.
Like Brooks' shirt? This is the back! oh yeah! Go to 147millionorphans.com to get one! It's his favorite shirt!
And another day on the lake... here we go... day 3
That precious daddy did this countless times... turn off the boat... help the kid adjust and put on skis or wakeboard, throw kid in the water, get the rope ready, throw to kid, yell "ready?" numerous times. He did it over and over and over. Someday they will appreciate it all.
He's cutting that hair off soon, or so he says
Hope your 4th of July was great! Whew - I'm out of breath!
