What a fun night!!!!
Getting to share with some of our family
and some close friends...
although, the night got away from us
and we didn't get to make it to as many stops as we wanted to.
First, my bff Aimee came over.
Poor girl has had to listen to this process for about 3 1/2 years now.
We work out together about every day...
For a good year and a half, she had to listen to me think out loud about this
whole crazy adoption idea, and
"SERIOUSLY! IS GOD REALLY CALLING
US TO DO THIS CRAZY THING CALLED ADOPTION!?!?
WE'VE NEVER BEEN "CALLED" TO DO ANYTHING IN OUR LIVES!
AND ADOPTION WAS NEVER ON OUR RADAR!"
AND ADOPTION WAS NEVER ON OUR RADAR!"
And then she had to listen to me digest
The Hole in Our Gospel
and Radical, and Crazy Love, etc...
Bless her heart, she has put up with a lot from me.
and supported me like crazy.
and told me "no, you aren't crazy!"
although... the other day we were on the elliptical... and I actually said,
"you know that so and so... They're kinda weird"
and aimee looked at me and said,
"excuse me! you are the weird one.
you are the one adopting from ethiopia!"
all in the most loving and fun way of course!
We both got a big laugh out of that!
y'all! it is so much fun doing weird things for God!

The way things worked out...
all of our kids were gone
to cheer and tennis
when we received pics and a short bio of Little Man.
So it was just Derek and I home.
sweet time.
Next, we went and picked up all the kids from their activities
and went to Derek's mom's house.
That's where we told them and showed him his pictures!
(although they totally knew something was up!)
No pics there, but a really cute video

Next we went to the Polks house...
where it was so funny that they just happened to have their tripod set up!
I guess they suspected something!?!?!

I love you tons, my sweet friend. I treasure every single conversation we have had...every single crazy, awesome moment!! I have never once been tired of hearing you talk it out. It is such an honor to walk with you on this journey! What a privilege to watch God work in you and Derek and your precious kids as you are answering His call on your life!! And just to let you know, Weird Rocks! Normal is boring. Weird is an adventure! I love you dearly, my wonderfully weird friend. I praise God for you and I'm rejoicing with you!!!! Praise God!! so happy for your family. After purchasing our monogramed towels from you I continued to follow your blog. It was like we were awaiting for 2 different things & we were in the same boat.
