We met him!!!

Well....
today was just about as amazing as they come.

After breakfast we traveled the 1 1/2 hour-2 hour drive
to Little Man's orphanage.
The drive was not really what I expected..
I thought once we got out of the busy city of Addis,
that it would be smooth sailing all the way there.
notsomuch.
It was a white knuckle ride the entire ride,
weaving in and out of traffic,
dodging pedistrians, donkeys, goats, monkeys
the whole way!
oh! and cars, vans, huge trucks the entire way!

I was nervous the whole way there...
how would the whole thing go down?
what would he be like?
would he look like the pictures we have?
what would his personality be like?

Well...
we walked in and they led us to a room and boom!
there he was!
It all happened so quickly!
And there he was as precious as can be.

totally scared because he had 5 white faces staring at him!
bless his heart!
We gave him toys and tried to play with him...
but he was just staring at us.
poor thing.
I'm sure we completely overwhelmed him.

The nannies encouraged us to take him out of his room
and into the open area.
So we did..
we continued to try to play with him,
but we could tell he was so sleepy.
sure enough, the nannies said it was nap time.
So I rocked him for about oh say, 30 seconds...
and he was out like a light.
sweet baby.

they said he would sleep about an hour.
so he slept on me the entire hour..
and like clockwork, he woke up ready to roll!

He was in a much better mood
and came out of his shell...
We took every kind of ball you can imagine!
And the boy has skilz, I tell you...
We had a big time of playing all kinds of ball!
he is adorable!

He is solid as they come!
haha!
I've never had a heavy one until now!
I think he might weigh like 1 pound less than Ellison!
sweet boy!

When it was time for us to leave,
we all said our goodbye's
and I handed him to the nanny.
I guess he got down out of her arms and followed me to pick him up.
So... of course i did!
I said goodbye one last time...
handed him to the nanny...
and he started crying, hard.
He hadn't cried the entire time we were there....
so of course at that moment,
I just lost it.
I didn't mean to bond quite so much....
poor little baby.

Our hearts are full,
it was a wonderful day.

We have court tomorrow afternoon.
I still can't post pics until we pass court.
Hopefully that will be tomorrow...
but we will see.

Trust me, I am not exaggerating...
we have like 1,000 pics!
Brittany was amazing behind the camera today...
I cannot even say how thankful I am to have had she and Aimee here with us.
I didn't even pick up a camera today,
except to video him giggling!
Such a blessing to have our entire special day documented with
just about every second that we were there at the orphanage... for 5 hours!
We are forever grateful to them,
for this special blessing...

and for now...
here's just a couple pics

We are so humbled that God would chose us for his family...
And so glad that we answered the call of adoption.
It is absolutely an amazing blessing.

I love him already. Although, I think I loved him a couple of years ago, too. :)

I've got tears too reading your post. But when I saw those hands, I smiled and laughed. Yup, he's got baseball hands! That's for you, Derek.

Hope all goes well in court.

Seeing those pictures of his precious chubby little hands holding on to you just made me cry! I just know court is going to go well. Continuing to pray for all of you. What an absolutely amazing time and so wonderful the whole family is getting to experience it together!

What a day! Surreal, isn't it? Love the way the Lord uses Brittany to photograph these life-changing moments. The Polk's recorded our whole homecoming at the airport. Love them! Praying for court tomorrow. God is bigger than the red tape of adoption!
