One of my favorite times of the year is to take my kids/kid (whichever the case may be depending on the year) to Kanakuk Kamp. LOVE.IT!!! LOVE. IT!!! LOVE IT!!! Cannot get enough of it. LOVE.IT!!! I am still trying to figure out how to get a job there so that I can stay for 2 weeks. I get giddy about it. I was freaking out and so completely excited just taking the trunk out of the attic last week. Just one trunk this year. :( Little Ellison---- 2 weeks---- she's my brave one---- up for anything at anytime! Although, last year we did get like 4 letters all written on the same day (a rainy day) saying "come pick me up RIGHT NOW, I'm homesick" Oh!!!! Break my heart. She assured us it was just because it was a rainy day and they had to stay in their barn (cabin) that day.
Anyway - we took a short family adventure to Branson. Here's some pics!
Fayetteville Airport
This is where we pass the camera around the table at dinner! Branson Landing!
Dropping Ella off... waiting to get in the gates....It was like 1 billion degrees humidity. miserable. sweat like a pig. you can't even imagine how miserable. I was seriously thinking about going down the K-Kauai water slide and I am not even kidding. in my clothes.
Introducing Ellison and her BARN!!!! MY FAVORITE PART!!!
Her counselor coming to get her!!! :)
In her Barn!
And then there were 2! :(
And then we flew home.
And here's a little adoption update:
It's gonna be awhile. bottom line. We just got fingerprinted at a REALLY BAD time. Just after we were fingerprinted, they switched the whole operation over to a centralized location for all adopting families in the US, instead of being processed at a local office. Derek called them last week and they couldn't even find our documents. They finally did find them and the lady told him that they still need to be processed and input in the computer and then we would be assigned a caseworker. All that would have to happen before we would get our I-171H. UUUGGGHHHH. She said to call back in a couple of weeks and to see what our status was. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PEOPLE. So now we are basically in a stack of paperwork with all of mankind (adopting mankind) waiting to be processed. So my dream of being on the waitlist before the end of July (which I totally thought was ample time) is not gonna happen. :(

Yay for kamp, boo for the new system!! Hope they get cracking really soon. I have a little boy to meet when I am there. :)
Ellison looks like she is going to have a great time! So fun! I have several friends from college (Taylor U.) who were counselors at Kanakuk years ago. So bummed for you about the CIS stuff. Super frustrating...but not out of the realm of God's timing. Praying for a fast turnaround and for peace in the wait. You have to get on that waitlist soon, so you're not too far behind me. :)

BOO on the new system for sure. I'm sorry. Hopefully it will it process a lot faster then they think.
Okay, where do you find these amazing camps?! How fun!
How IRRITATING about the adoption process! WHY does it have to be so difficult and unorganized. I mean, I do understand that they need to make absolutely sure that good people are adopting but seriously...
I remember going to camp in the summer. my parents would send all 3 of us off for 3 weeks! It was WONDERFUL! I don't think they have that 3 weeker anymore. It was Camp Olympia...SO fun...
I can't believe they make it so difficult for people to adopt, I'm so sad for y'all.
Love that Ellison loves camp! How fun, I can't wait for my kiddos to go to sleep away camp. Next year for Bram, one week. Yippee!!
I love her trunk! Very cute. Did you make that or buy it? I feel so bad that your fingerprint results have been delayed. I would be beside myself if this was going on in my life! Praying for you to get quick approval!

It is sad to think that human needs have been reduced into a paper mill. How in-humane is that!
Way to go for Ella - she a big Trooper (not to be confuse with the 4-legged one.)
PS: There's a birthday comin' up! Any special plans????
LOVE IT! hoping that she and Sadie will be life long friends after this experience! Kanakuk is the best!
