Random Little Tidbits

I basically have nothing to say.... just some random tidbits, that's all.

1.  I am a sucker for all things chalkboard... period... I love me some chalkboard.  We have been working on our gameroom for like, um, over a year... This has been on my to do list for, um, over a year.  If I can catch Derek in a really good mood, I can get him to do some projects for me, like this one.  So, we were working on our house this last weekend trying to get it "homestudy ready" for next Tuesday...  because I know that us having a chalkboard in our gameroom is going to be a "shoe-in" for us being approved by our  caseworker to be able to adopt a precious little Ethiopian boy! right.

Anywhoo - here's a few pics from our weekend project

2.  I totally wish I could take credit for the awesomeness of the next little added decor to our gameroom.  Derek came up with it - shoot!  I bought a clock last week for the gameroom... and I was having hubs hang it and he said, "we need to get another one for Addis time".  awesome idea.  So he went and got another.  He really has great ideas sometimes.

3.  Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.  Love love love it, so much!  Kids are playing outside and it rocks!  It makes me so happy!

4.  I think I might have to start keeping a list of the ridiculous things people say to me about adoption.  Oh my word..... I told someone today that we were adopting from Ethiopia.... they said, "like through the mail?"  Seriously people.  SERIOUSLY.  It is not a mail order bride.  It is a precious precious little boy that God loves and made and we were lucky enough that the Good Lord chose us to be his family. Pending the homestudy approval

5.  I know everyone will be so excited when our homestudy is over with so that I will quit talking about it.

6.  I have 4 more days until I am a mother of a teenager.  In the blink of an eye, it happens.  :(
We planned his 13th birthday party while waiting in the orthodontist office today.  Pray for me.  8 boys spending the night and a lot of sports.  Pray for good weather too, I'll die if they can't go outside.

7.  I heard some awesome news today and I pray that it is true.

That's all!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the game room! The chalkboard truly says "These people are the right people for adoption." I'm thinking if there is ANY doubt AT ALL, this chalkboard will erase it! (haha! sorry about that pun!) And props to Derek for the 2 clocks! I think he should get "projects extra credit" for that. Too cute!
Mail order adoption?? really?
So excited for the homestudy to be over--not so you won't talk about it--just so you'll be one step closer to bringing home that precious little boy!!!! :) YAY!!

You are too much. The Home Study will go so well......but love the extra attention (and stress, which makes you a little crazy and VERY funny) you're showing it. Who wouldn't love you guys?!

WHO? Tell me!

Hi.

I am a friend if Julie Hinshaw's through Ukraine adoption blogging. :) Just started reading your blog over the weekend. So excited for your family. We have friends who are at about the same place in the Ethiopian adoption process as you guys are so I gave her your blog address too!

Love the clocks! That is so sweet. I bet it will serve as a great reminder to pray for your son and think about what he might be doing. Love it!

Don't forget the home study shouldn't be anything to be nervous or worried about. All they are doing is making sure you guys are who you say you are and that you have the means and desire to welcome another child into your home. Don't let it stress you out! Also ask tons of questions! These people are a wealth of knowledge about all things adoption. :)

I emailed you on Polka Dot Dreams about an order too. :)

I found your blog tonight in a link from Kristi Johnson's. Our agency told us it would take 60 days to get our fingerprints back from the FBI. It only took ya'll ten days? Did you send them to West Virginia? We are in about the same place as ya'll in getting paperwork together. Waiting on those fingerprints and finishing adoption education/homestudy stuff. Anyway, I'd love if you'd email me about your fingerprint status? My thinking is that we'd be all done and waiting on those. Thanks,Debbie Davis
