That thing called "the paperchase"..

Well..... we are ALMOST done.  A humongous shout out to my dear dear husband.... He has worked tirelessly on all of this, with just a little help from me.  I just kept asking... "how much longer? how much more?"  We are still waiting for a few things to come in the mail and hopefully by the end of next week, it will all be done.   We finally sat down this morning and wrote the "why we want to adopt" letter.  Still have to do our homestudy.  Ellison and I are totally freaking out about this.  What if she hates us?  I am not good at "on the spot" answers.  But I know that God has brought us this far, He is not going to fail us now!    I read on someone's blog once... that no one would do this international adoption thing unless God called them to do it.  Who knew what an ordeal it is!?! Oh the paperwork...

Back to our regularly scheduled program now - what a detour this blog took for the last 3 posts!  It even got me on a 1st name basis with the head preacher at our church!  Whoops!  Excuse me, he called me on the phone!  Yes - freak out time..... It seems that he wants us to do a little video for the church.  I just thought that God was calling us to adopt 1 orphan, little did I know that we were going to have to be doing videos in front of the entire church!  In addition, the associate preacher, TWITTERED my blog... Good gracious, I would have had that post announcing our decision to adopt edited and proofread before I posted, if I knew that I was going to get 1,000 hits on it! ( I know I tend to exaggerate sometimes, but it really was like 1000 hits)

So, we do have 3 kids that life has continued on with while we were bogged down with this little paperchase thingy...

We had 3rd grade programs

We had gymnastics meets - Ellison did awesome!

We did Science fair projects.  "Can you identify the flavors of Kool-Aid when blindfolded?"

We also had dance performances and tennis tournaments that I don't have pictures to show for, you've seen them before.  And you will see them again soon!

Have a great Sunday my friends!
I also want to thank so many of you for your sweet comments on the blog and all of your encouraging words.  They meant more than you will ever know.  God truly worked through you to encourage us!

Hi Heather. My family and I are one step behind you in the adoption process. We are just now beginning our great paper chase (Overwhelmed) Reading blogs like yours is encourging and refreshes me when the small waves of discouragement try to poke up.

You should know from all our mutual blog friends ... there is ALWAYS a ripple effect of blessings when you are obedient to His call! :o) Cannot wait to see the church video and hear how God uses it to inspire others to adopt!
So excited for you!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

I am certain that once the paperchase is over and you have your little man in your arms, it will be so worth it (duh, you already know that too:)! And I have no clue how long the whole process takes and when you'll get to bring him home but how cool that he will have a cousin, the new baby Clay, so close in age! Congrats again!

1 - Your kids are gorgeous

2 - They are going to love you!! They WANT you to go get an orphan. They are on your side. Enjoy it!

Our SW told us the only reason she ever said no to a family was because when she got the husband alone he admitted that he really didn't want to adopt. (Whoa, I bet there was a fight in that house that night.)

My point is don't worry about it :)

I saw your comment on Whatever who I have been following for a few years now. And I saw your comment about Ethiopia. Of course that perked my interest. We are also adopting from Ethiopia and yes I agree that it is only because God told us to do it because it is soooo much paperwork. It has been grueling, but in the end will be soooo worth it! I am always amazed when I see people who have adopted 3 or 4 times or more! Wow is all I can say!! And I keep saying to my husband hurry - are we almost done? It feels like being pregnant!
